CALA recently garnered national recognition in Landscape Architecture Magazine (LAM) for our contributions to a new Animal Services Center in San Martin California. As a subconsultant to Dreyfuss & Blackford Architects, CALA staff collaborated in development of the site plan which included landscape forms that enhance the contemporary forms of the building. The paw-some plant palette subtly plays off the surrounding landscape while acknowledging the built facility. A small grove of olive trees planted in rows provides a nod to the agricultural context surrounding the site. Slated to open in the Spring of 2021, the facility will be a tribute to the latest thinking in pet adoption practices.
