During these unusual and trying times, we’ve found solace and rejuvenation in being able to go out and recreate safely at parks, trails, beaches, and other outdoor spaces. As more recreational spaces re-open for public use, they provide important alternative spaces for enjoyment, outside of our homes. More indoor activities are moving to the outdoors, which has led to creative uses of park lawns for things like yoga and Zumba classes. Trails provide more than a means to briefly escape: they allow community members to enjoy nature while getting some exercise with a bike ride. Outdoor fitness stations (like Hayward’s Alden E. Oliver Sports Park), when re-opened can supplement closed gyms. Here at CALA, we’re humbled to have been able to contribute to the creation of some of the spaces folks are enjoying during this time.
How are you recreating? Here is a glimpse of how some of our CALAfam members are currently recreating while we do our part to socially distance. We encourage everyone to get out and recreate too!
